Dr. Shenin Mohamed
Dr. Shenin Mohamed completed her first degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of British Columbia and practiced as a licensed pharmacist for the province of British Columbia for approximately 3 years.
She then decided to pursue further education and completed a postgraduate professional degree in Podiatry at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Mohamed received several honours while in professional school and graduated magna cum laude with a 4.0 GPA standing. She received the graduation award of Excellence in Research for her medical research publications and research on the role of Gamma Linoleic Acid on the treatment of painful peripheral diabetic neuropathy and her presentation and teaching seminars regarding: “The Design and Methods of Conducting Clinical Medical Trials” based on her involvement with the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, Health Sciences campus.
Her article entitled “Hemophilic Arthropathy, Considerations in Management” was published in the textbook: Reconstructive Surgery of the Foot and Leg, The Podiatry Institute, 1998 Edition. The same article was revised and published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Volume 91, # 8.
Awards and Recognition
Dr. Shenin Mohamed was the recipient of the American Association of Women Podiatrists Founder’s scholarship for her case presentation entitled “Ankle Surgery in a Hemophilic Patient”.
The Ortho Pharmaceuticals Podiatric Dermatology Silver Award was granted to her for her article entitled: “Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Nail Bed: A Review of Literature and Case Report in a Seven Year Old Child”.
She was selected as a member of the National Dean’s List for scholastic excellence and granted membership to the Pi Delta National Honor’s society for academic excellence. Additionally, she was the recipient of 3 Fund for Podiatric Medical Excellence Scholarships by the California College of Podiatric Medicine.
The California Podiatric Medical Association selected Dr. Mohamed as the Humanitarian of the Year in 1998 for her philanthropic endeavours in establishing a non-profit medical center at the Dolores Street Women’s Shelter in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Mohamed then completed a successful clinical and surgical fellowship with the New Haven Foot Surgeons. The directors of the New Haven Foot Surgeons fellowship program are affiliated with the Yale University Podiatric surgical residency program.
After the completion of her American training, Dr. Mohamed joined a successful podiatric practise in Edmonton, Alberta and worked clinically in private practice for 2 1/2 years. Dr. Shenin Mohamed then moved to West Vancouver and established a new solo private practice called the West Vancouver Foot Clinic. This practice has been operational since 2004. After graduation, Dr. Mohamed completed 2 years in a Podiatric Medical-surgical residency with the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
